Anna Camille's exhibition "oil paintings and ink drawings"
Opening reception on April 13 from 17 p.m.
This new exhibition by Anna Camille presents her most recent works. She created imaginary landscapes, using oil paint on wood and ink on paper in parallel. The originality of this approach lies in using the resources specific to each of these two techniques.
In fact, the artist used the thickness of the paint applied to the wood, making the colors swim on the hard surface, and sometimes going so far as to engrave on the still wet paint. This gives rise to particularly powerful small formats, like explosions of colors and shapes.
At the same time, the artist wanted to take advantage of the finesse of the lines drawn with a pen to explore a new dimension of this series of imaginary landscapes. This involves playing with the spacing of the lines to make more or less dense drawings, always varying the purity of the line, without thickness or color. The aim is to always make light exist at the very heart of these canvases woven with pen strokes.
The contrast is therefore obvious between the two simultaneous approaches. The artist wants to widen the gap between his way of painting and drawing. And it's fascinating to note that these two furrows arrive at the same place, and that dialogues arise between his paintings and his drawings.
