Itineray type : Mountain bike

Season : Summer

Description :

Trail primarily marked out on forest paths. Take some water with you.

Descriptif détaillé :

Start your trail by taking the avenue des Vignerons. Leave the village by the rue de la Pinède, turn right just before reaching the Wine Cooperative. (1) Shift into lower gear for a short but steep climb, followed by a downhill part towards the Pujade (Occitan for ‘climb’) métairie (sharecropping farm). Leave the farm on your left and, a few meters further on, (2) take the small tarred track to the right then the trail going uphill on your left. At the first fork in the road, leave this main uphill path and take the one to the left, looking out over some vineyards below (3) and going past a renovated hunting lodge called “Sylobre”. (4) The uphill path makes a big left turn and the climb continues. In front of you, you’ll see the lookout tower, highest spot of the pine wood, then, to your right, Lézignan and its vineyard plain. The trail goes past 3 huge rocks on your left.
On your right, you’ll see the Alaric. (5) On the sloping ledge, there is a crossroads with a trail. (Optional: to the left, you can ride uphill towards the lookout tower and the top of the pine wood, where you’ll have an excellent panoramic view. 30 minutes for the roundtrip.) Turn right till you reach another sloping ledge where several paths come together. (6) Go straight ahead on the path going uphill before descending again pretty soon afterwards. Continue on this trail till you reach a crossroads.
(7) Take the first path on your right, still going downhill.
Ride by a pond, on your right. (8) At the first fork in the road, turn left going down. The track looks out over some vineyards then, on your left, over the remains of an old building called Grangeot. After a few metres, (9) ride down the path to the left which passes before Grangeot, then go uphill straight ahead till you reach the track. Continue straight ahead on this false flat descent. Next up is a concrete road which crosses a stream (10) that becomes more of a ditch on the left. After a small pointed vineyard, (11) take a path to the right. Soon, this will go round some vestiges (12) before reaching a tarred part.
Ride back to the village.
