Notre Dame de la Récaoufa
At the village of Villeneuve, you will follow the Notre Dame de la Récaoufa trail and walk in the footsteps of those formerly worshipping the Virgin Mary on their way to the tower and the statue of Our Lady. The tower was built around 1869, probably on an ancient pilgrimage site. Then, after being badly damaged in a heavy storm, it was rebuilt in 1975 when several villages of the Durban region rose to the occasion in support of its reconstruction.
These days, this picturesque site offers you a panoramic view on the Alaric, Mont Saint-Victor, Mont Tauch and the villages of Durban, Villesèque, Cascastel and Villeneuve.
