The gorges of the Verdouble

Just outside Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse, after a short walk on a path lined with vineyards, the gorges of the Verdouble, also called ‘The Cascades’, are a dazzling sight in the most picturesque of sceneries. The water flows in a succession of cascades, potholes and small lakes which have been naturally crafted in the rocks. A dam, whose anchorages are still to be found in the rock, used to provide water for the wheat mill. This pastoral site is an ideal spot for some river bathing. It can be reached by way of the Moulin de Ribaute (Ribaute Mill) hike starting in the village.
