If you take the Sentier Cathare (‘Cathar Trail’) in the Tuchan plain, you will be offered a nice view on Mont Tauch. This is a modest mountain (878 m), but nevertheless it towers above the eastern part of the Corbières massif. The highest peak of the massif, the Pech de Fraysse (lo fraisse = fraxinus or ash), reaches a height of 917 m.
At its foot, the vineyards of the Haut Fitou stretch out. At the top, you will notice the wind turbines, which can be found all over the region, as well as a radio tower, the "Tour des Géographes" (‘Geographer’s tower’), which can be reached by a small dead-end road. And what a road it is!
