Above deep gorges, departing from the characterful village, visit the remains of a medieval fortress considered impregnable - short film, historical exhibition, loan of an illustrated "visiting book" - Hiker cyclo: reduction of the ticket entrance - closed in January, February and December (except for groups).
Overlooking the Termenet gorges and the picturesque village, the Château de Termes is known for the long siege of 1210, during the Albigensian Crusade. This capital of a seigneury won over by the Cathar heresy then offered fierce resistance for nearly 4 months to Simon de Montfort.
Termes was also one of the "5 sons of Carcassonne", these strategic fortresses protecting the kingdom of France, now the subject of a UNESCO application. Voluntarily destroyed in 1654, the castle regularly benefits from excavations and restoration works which make it an increasingly imposing site. Exhibition and short film at the reception in the village. 15 minutes of walking access with paper or digital media. Panorama on the gorges and Hautes-Corbières.
Closed in December, January and February (except for groups).
Additional Information :
In March and November open on weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
