The Tauch mountain can be recognized from afar thanks to its characteristic “table” shape. It is a greenhouse, that is to say an elongated mountain having at the top a plateau about four kilometers long and 500 meters wide; its height is fairly constant, the highest point is 917 meters at Pech de Fraysse. It dominates from 200 to 300 m approximately the highest peaks that surround it. Its vegetation consists of scrubland, holm oaks and southern type vegetation of altitude.
The Tour de la Montagne du Tauch allows you to discover the summit (360 ° view) and the surroundings of the imposing Mont Tauch. This 60 km loop hiking route, fully marked in white-red, can be covered in 3 days. It follows successively the GR® 36 A, the GR® 367 (Cathare Trail), the GR® 36 and a link of the GR® 36.
The departure is from Laroque de Fa. We suggest that you leave your vehicle in the village of Laroque de Fa (possibility to sleep on site, and to go on foot towards the Ferréol pass.
