1

Step 1

Take the small paved road leading to the D 611. At the crossroads, turn left on this departmental road for 800 m to arrive in Tuchan. At the south exit, on the departmental road, turn right just before the cemetery on the small road that you quickly leave on the left to follow the logging path through the vineyard to join the D 14, opposite the place- said the Pines. Continue on the right by the D 14 for 200 m until the crossroads. Take the rural road to the right serving the vines after crossing the ravine of Rec del Guech north of the characteristic peak of the sarrat Redounel, then find the old road from Tuchan to Padern going as a balcony on the side of the Roc Fourcat above the canyon du Verdouble. Very nice route, before reaching the Grau de Padern. To reach Padern, follow road D 14. (According to “Le trail Cathare, de la mer à Montségur” - Rando Pyrénéenne - A. Brenon, J. Duvernoy, M. Roquebert).

Step 2

Get off on the access road. From the first bends, a path on the left cuts a bend. Find the road below and follow it now.
3

Step 3

At the intersection, go left then straight until the D39. Follow it to the right until the D611. Continue to the left and cross the village of Tuchan in the direction of Paziols.
4

Step 4

On leaving the village turn right along the cemetery wall.
5

Step 5

About 200m further, continue on the stone path to the left.
6

Step 6

Continue straight on this path, ignoring the paths to the left and to the right until an intersection.
7

Step 7

Then fork to the left towards the D 14. Go along the D14 on the right for 500m.
8

Step 8

Facing a ruined hut, take a track on the right and advance towards the base of a characteristic rocky peak. At its feet (ruins), veer off and descend slightly to the left.
9

Step 9

Walk straight through the vines on the path that crosses a first valley. At the end of a vineyard, cross an embankment on the right and go up between cypresses and a new plot then on an open path in the scrubland. It takes a little height to then cross the ravine of the rec de Lanes.
10

Step 10

Near a ruined hut, find the old path; follow it to the right. Continue along a nice path on the terrace under the Fourcat rock.
11

Step 11

Pass a collar where the path turns north-west to descend along a beautiful rocky route towards the Grau de Padern. Walk along the tar to the right for about 250m.
12

Step 12

Before the bridge, take the path on the right in the bed of Verdouble to reach Padern.

Be careful, the fire risk is often high, especially in summer, and can lead to flower bed closures. Find out before you go consulting the fire risk map for outdoor activities.
Fires strictly prohibited. Do not smoke and never throw cigarette butts in nature. Fires are numerous and catastrophic in our region. In the event of a fire or accident: give alert 18 or 112 from a cell phone.
Protect yourself from the sun and take enough water with you.
Avoid picking flowers and plants. Take all your trash. Close fences and keep dogs on a leash in pasture areas, villages and protected areas.

Mountain bike routes: the routes are often shared with hikers or other users (cars, tractors, etc.). Be careful and always anticipate that a pedestrian may be present around a bend to have time to brake if necessary. Pedestrians have priority in principle, slow down at crossings or stop if the configuration of the terrain requires you to do so.
Thank you and happy hiking!
