In this second stage, you cross sumptuous landscapes marked by vineyards favored by the climate and the nature of the soil. The many limestone plateaus will allow you to take a little height to admire without too much difficulty, the wild beauty offered by the territory of the Corbières.

Step 1

Departure from the pedestrian bridge, D 611 south-west exit, direction Villeneuve les Corbières. Travel about 400m on the D611.

Take the Chemin des Courtarelles on the left. Continue straight south, between crops and scrubland, uphill to the Col de Sainte Juste (156 m). Go back down and cross the Bosc stream.

Leave a north-facing track on the right in the bend. Continue uphill on the track to the southwest, leaving the cultivated areas for the scrubland.

Soon take a path to the right going up towards La Vierge de la Recaoufa (Sainte Raphine viewpoint, 375 m). Go down south.

Leave on the right (west) the yellow markings of a PR. Go around a nipple to the left (376 m) and descend, leaving several small peaks on your right towards the D 205.

Go up after the culvert on the left on a path. At the intersection, follow the track to the left. Continue on the path straight through the woods downhill towards the Anglade stream. First go up along the stream then follow the flanks of Pic de Miraille (396m) which you leave access to the right to descend facing Pic de Grouffi (385m). Go around his nipple to the left (east) until the intersection with a track (321 m). Continue to the left due east; at the next intersection, also on the left (Bent Pass). Leave the track when it turns north, to go down the water tower path to the right towards the D 205. Continue to the right towards Embres-et-Castelmaure.

Continue to the right on the tarmac road to la Fontaine, to the south-west. Ignore all the paths to the right and to the left. At the intersection (232 m), leave the Chemin de la Grave on the left and continue along the track on the right side along the stream. It follows the southern slopes of Pech du Bac to reach the Col de l'Ire after about 5 km.

Take the track to the right for about 20 m and take the path to the left. Continue to the left on the track, leave the access to the Mas de la Brousse on the left, cross a ford over the stream.

About 50 m later, follow the path to the left which climbs in laces then remains in balcony on the western flank of the Grand Bosc (view of Aguilar, Quéribus, Mont Tauch, the Pyrenees) for approximately 1 km.

In the curve, descend to the right on a path which crosses the Boutarigues Grandes streams and further on, Boutarigues Petites. Exit the national forest, climb the path to the left then descend towards the entrance to the chateau de Nouvelles. Turn right onto the tarmac road for 1,6 km. Go left on the tarred path to pass at the foot of Domneuve. Continue a little further.

Leave this lane for the path on the right going up through the vineyards. Go around the Sarrat Redoun on the left. Arrive at the foot of the Château d'Aguilar. Continue along the small asphalt road or follow the shortcuts that cut the bends. Go left on the D39. Take the D 611 on the left for 800 m until Tuchan.

Leave this path for the path on the right going up through the vineyards. Go around the Sarrat Redoun on the left. Arrive at the foot of the Château d'Aguilar. Continue along the small tarmac road leading to the D 611 or follow the shortcuts that cut the bends. Take the D 611 on the left for 800 m until Tuchan.

Avoid picking flowers and plants. Take all your trash. Close fences and keep dogs on a leash in pasture areas, villages and protected areas.

Mountain bike routes: the routes are often shared with hikers or other users (cars, tractors, etc.). Be careful and always anticipate that a pedestrian may be present around a bend to have time to brake if necessary. Pedestrians have priority in principle, slow down at crossings or stop if the configuration of the terrain requires you to do so.
