1

Step 1

Climb the embankment just before the cemetery and go around the surrounding wall to the right, climbing among the trees, along a dry stream. Follow a path in the scrubland, then in the pine plantations (!) Pay attention to the markings).
2

Step 2

Head due west towards a promontory where you can enjoy a view of the village and beyond. Turn back for about 125m and climb east through the pines to the access road to the pylons. Go down the road to the right for about 600m
3

Step 3

(Short circuit option: 2,7 km, 55 min, 140 m of elevation gain: By continuing straight on the road (chemin de Fraïsse, rue du Pech de Grill to Villeneuve, you will return to your starting point via the avenue des Corbières and the D611 towards Tuchan.) To continue towards Récaoufa: Take a path below to the right along the telephone line, pass the sheepfold and continue to the right, on the path to Col de Balansac.
4

Step 4

Leave it on the way up for a small path on the left, between a vine and a low wall. Then, the route takes a path climbing in the scrubland, leaving the rock of Récaoufa on the left to come out on a track facing the tower and the Virgin of the same name. (Small round trip to discover the panorama towards Mont Alaric, Mont Saint Victor, the village of Durban and its castle, the villages of Villesèque, Villeneuve and Cascastel, to the west Mont Tauch.) Go down the track by direction of the D 205.
5

Step 5

Leave it for a path on the left, downhill under holm oaks and boxwood then in a scree (the balcony path reveals some interesting points of view).
6

Step 6

At the crossroads, continue opposite on the old town road from Villeneuve to Fraïsse, heading west. We soon reach the tar. Go down to the right, on Chemin de Fraïsse then Rue du Pech de Grill. Turn left on Avenue des Corbières, cross the village and continue on the D611, direction Tuchan, to the cemetery car park.

Be careful, the fire risk is often high, especially in summer, and can lead to flower bed closures. Find out before you go consulting the fire risk map for outdoor activities.
Fires strictly prohibited. Do not smoke and never throw cigarette butts in nature. Fires are numerous and catastrophic in our region. In the event of a fire or accident: give alert 18 or 112 from a cell phone.
Protect yourself from the sun and take enough water with you.
Avoid picking flowers and plants. Take all your trash. Close fences and keep dogs on a leash in pasture areas, villages and protected areas.

Mountain bike routes: the routes are often shared with hikers or other users (cars, tractors, etc.). Be careful and always anticipate that a pedestrian may be present around a bend to have time to brake if necessary. Pedestrians have priority in principle, slow down at crossings or stop if the configuration of the terrain requires you to do so.
Thank you and happy hiking!
