From the village of Laroque de Fa, climb to the Ferréol pass (428 m). Walk through the national forest of Verdouble to climb Mont Tauch (the Tauch is a bare and desert mountain with cracked relief surrounded by the rivers of Verdouble and Torgan; it offers a grandiose 360 ° panorama: Canigou, Ariège, Corbières, coast). Continue until near the Tour des Géographes or Enseigne (878 m; tower built in 1791 by a group of astronomers commissioned by the Academy of Sciences to accurately measure the Dunkirk meridian in Barcelona; at its foot: pastille en bronze from 1870, mark of the meridian arc). A little further on, an orientation table offers a beautiful panorama. Go down to Padern.

At the bridge over the Sou (456 m), follow the road to Massac. After about 700 m, go up on the track to the left. At about 800 m in a curve to the right, a shortcut to the left joins the track higher up. Walk between green meadows and wooded hills.

Begin the descent to Padern for 2,7 km, staying on the main track. At the cemetery, use a path on the left which leads to a road; follow it to the right. Ignore a footbridge, then cross the Verdouble to reach Padern and the Cathar Trail which leads to Quéribus and Peyrepertuse.
