Step 1

Departure: Cave Arnaud de Villeneuve boutique car park. Turn your back to the cellar and leave the parking lot. Go down avenue du château Fort towards the heart of the village, take avenue Armand Claret on the right, which further on becomes avenue François Tubeau.

Step 2

Take Rue des Soupirs on the left, it leads to Rue Jean Moulin and you will come to an old information panel. It tells you to turn right on rue des Mimosas to rue Sainte Gaudérique which you take on the left.

Step 3

Go under the D900, stay on the small road, at the crossroads turn right (towards the house of the hunters), cross the bridge over the Rec de la Santa Coloma.

Step 4

At the crossroads turn left towards the pond. Along the way, take a break at the observatory of the communal area of La Sagne. Continue towards Anse de la Roquette. You pass under a conspicuous pine that bends over the road.

Step 5

After the cove of La Roquette, we arrive at a place called "les Baraques des Pêcheurs", in this cul-de-sac we discover "barracas", rudimentary huts sometimes built with canes and reeds. Do not hesitate to stroll along the small paths to discover them, more particularly the "Baraque Cabrol" listed as historical monuments. Go back.

Step 6

Take the path on the left towards Garrieux. The path takes you to a crossroads, turn left and arrive at the hamlet of Garrieux. The pretty Romanesque chapel in the shade of a few umbrella pines is a place that aspires to serenity and silence. Ideal for having a good time and having a picnic.

Step 7

To return to the route, make a U-turn, return to the intersection and continue straight. We walk through the orchards until a gate closes the path, take the path to the left through the marshes, in thick vegetation made of rushes and reeds. Here the name "Cami de las Sanyes" takes on its full meaning. We end up finding the asphalt of the road that runs towards Salses-le-Château.

Be careful, the fire risk is often high, especially in summer, and can lead to flower bed closures. Find out before you go consulting the fire risk map for outdoor activities.
Fires strictly prohibited. Do not smoke and never throw cigarette butts in nature. Fires are numerous and catastrophic in our region. In the event of a fire or accident: give alert 18 or 112 from a cell phone.
Protect yourself from the sun and take enough water with you.
Avoid picking flowers and plants. Take all your trash. Close fences and keep dogs on a leash in pasture areas, villages and protected areas.

Mountain bike routes: the routes are often shared with hikers or other users (cars, tractors, etc.). Be careful and always anticipate that a pedestrian may be present around a bend to have time to brake if necessary. Pedestrians have priority in principle, slow down at crossings or stop if the configuration of the terrain requires you to do so.
Thank you and happy hiking!
