Reach the heights

From Roubia, parcours first take the small road in the direction of Pouzols-Minervois. Winding between vineyards and pine forests, you gain the heights for a panoramic view of the village and the plain where the canal winds.

VTT Paraza

We leave the road to take a dirt road on the left just before a vineyard (we join here the circuit 21 of the Espace VTT FFC, the Country of the Fox). Mountain biking makes perfect sense! The path quickly becomes a path that slaloms through the pine forest to the domain of Bouscade, surrounded by olive trees and where you can stay in the heart of nature.

From there, the route is simpler: we take an asphalt path, then we cut through vineyard paths to reach the banks of the Répudre stream before reaching the village of paraza.

Tasting break at the Château de Paraza

When you arrive in the village, do not miss a break to discover the Paraza Castle. This majestic 17th century wine house housed Paul Riquet during the construction of the Canal du Midi. Since 2005, the Danglas family has taken over the reins of this estate and offers sumptuous guest rooms and produces an excellent Minervois wine to be discovered in the tasting cellar. In summer, a restaurant takes place in the courtyard of the castle, in the shade of the pines. Ideal for a welcome break!

Culture break in Paraza!

On the quays of the port of Paraza, the Clap is a workshop - art gallery not to be missed. This atypical place welcomes artists temporarily. They are often on site to present their works. In short, a must in Paraza!
Le village also hosts other workshops and artists' shops. Do not hesitate to push their door!

The Répudre canal bridge

Before leaving for Roubia, take a detour to admire the Repudre Canal Bridge, an incredible work on the Canal du Midi ! Built by Paul Riquet in 1676 to span the Repudre river, this canal bridge presents an unusual scene with each passage of a barge: a boat sliding slowly not under but over a bridge!

To reach the Répudre canal bridge from Paraza, you have to cross the bridge and turn left in the direction of Ventenac. About 500 meters further, a path leads to the left to follow the canal. You have to take it to the canal bridge. For the rest of the route, come back towards Paraza and continue straight on towards Roubia.

To return to Roubia, simply follow the course of the Canal du Midi on the small road that connects the two villages. Arrived in Roubia, you can go for a refreshment and eat on the terrace of the grocery store-restaurant Lou mercat.
