Homps is in the heart of the Midi - it's the perfect starting point if you want to discover the main attractions of the Canal du Midi - you will indeed pass through many pretty villages and very few locks on this part towards the is.

You can also divert on the Canal de la Robine towards the Roman city of Narbonne (7 hours from Homps) or continue towards the lock ladder of Fonseranes and the lively town of Béziers (5-6 hours of navigation) . Then, you will sail quietly for 10 hours to reach the emblematic Cité de Carcassonne. Don't leave Homps without visiting Minerve (12km by taxi), a small village perched on a rocky promontory and surrounded by impressive gorges, a truly spectacular landscape!
