Autumn is here with its beautiful colors… at a time when the landscape changes tone, when preparations for winter begin, black still predominates, and yet… Of the 16,000 hectares burned this Tuesday, August 5th, 11,000 hectares of garrigue went up in smoke. Hope is slowly returning with the green of the kermes oaks reclaiming the land long overrun by Aleppo pines, and asparagus appearing here and there.

Did you know?
8000 years ago, our territory was covered by a forest of white oaks instead of vineyards, while kermes oaks were mostly found along the coast. It was during prosperous periods that humans created areas for cultivation and grazing, thus contributing to deforestation.

A support mission for the prefect of Aude

The Prime Minister confided to CGAAER (General Council for Food, Agriculture and Rural Areas) and to theIGEDD (General Inspectorate for the Environment and Sustainable Development) a support mission to the Prefect of Aude. These two bodies, which advise the Government, mobilized four inspectors general to organize a collective working session bringing together elected officials, farmers, foresters, economic and associative actors from the territory.

Innovative plans for the habitability and resilience of the Corbières


Starting in September, the Aude department and Region Occitanie mobilized each 10 million to support the reconstruction after the Corbières fire. The 12th November 2025During the Departmental Conference, Aude received the Innovation Award for this habitability and resilience plan, recognized as best public policy initiative in the category "An opportunity for the territories"This device, called « The power to be reborn »This illustrates the region's capacity to recover and invent sustainable solutions. Within this context, the tourism and land-use planning are fully involved: we will be able to share an overview and consider together the reconstruction of hiking trailsessential to local life and the attractiveness of the Corbières.
