Montbrun des Corbières comes from the Latin name "Montem"; which designates the mountain and the Occitan "Brown" recalling the brown/red color of the land. Montbrun is therefore the place of the red mountain. In the middle of the vineyards you will find Notre Dame de Colombier. This chapel is a place of pilgrimage particularly frequented on Easter Monday and September 8. It would have been built by a lord guilty of having his own father devoured by his dogs returning from the crusades, unrecognizable, taking him then for a poor wretch.
