Exceptional natural parks

The Réserve Naturelle Régionale de Sainte Lucie (‘Sainte Lucie regional nature reserve’) was created in 2009. This is a major reserve for the protection of the biodiversity of lagoons and former salt marshes. Its 825 ha of surface are home to a variety of typically Mediterranean natural habitats: beaches and dunes, saline or brackish humid areas, garrigues, pine woods, all housing a very diverse and extremely rich range of both fauna and flora.
It is precisely the diversity and the riches of the countryside, the fauna and flora which have earned the Narbonnaise territory its classification as Regional Natural Park.
